Cantilever Racking New Zealand

Cantilever racking is a warehouse storage system that uses vertical posts with adjustable horizontal arms that are attached to the post at one end , to support heavy loads. Cantilever racks are typically used to store long length products or awkwardly shaped items that may be difficult to store on traditional pallet racks. Unlike pallet racking, cantilever racks provide clear access to the items without any vertical divisions.

Cantilever racks can be either single-sided or double-sided, and they can be configured to create a wide variety of storage solutions. Some common applications for cantilever racks include storing timber, pipe, bar stock, metal sheets, and other construction materials.

Integrated Rack Structure

Why build a shed, then put racking in it? Instead build a shed out of racking!

One structure – Combining the shed and racking in one structure saves money.

Fast build time – As it is a modular system it is not only very cost effective but also offers minimal construction time onsite.

Space utilization – Traditionally racking had to be installed 300mm inside the shed structure to provide isolation during seismic events, with IRS it is one structure so there is no wasted space.

Flexibility – You can build what you need and add more later if required. You can start with the base Structure and add sidewalls or roller doors as your business grows.

    FAQ

    What is cantilever racking?

Cantilever racking is a type of storage system that uses vertical posts with horizontal arms that are attached to the post at one end  to support loads, allowing for clear and easy access to stored items. Because there are no vertical supports in the way, cantilever racks are ideal for storing long or awkwardly shaped or long length items such as timber , piping, aluminium or carpet rolls.

How do I know if cantilever racking is right for my needs?

Consider cantilever racking if you need to store long or oddly shaped items that would be difficult to store on traditional pallet racks. Cantilever racks also offer better accessibility to stored items than pallet racks, since there are no vertical supports in the way.

How much weight can cantilever racks support?

Cantilever racks are available in a variety of sizes and capacities to suit your needs. The capacity of a particular rack will depend on its size and construction. When choosing a rack, be sure to select one that has a capacity rating that exceeds the weight of the heaviest item you anticipate storing.

What is the difference between single-sided and double-sided cantilever racks?

Single-sided cantilever racks have arms on one side only, while double-sided racks have arms on both sides. Double-sided racks are more stable than single-sided racks and can support heavier loads, but they take up more floor space.

How do I calculate how many posts I need for my cantilever rack?

The number of posts  you need will depend on the length and weight of the items you intend to store on the rack. A 4 post medium duty cantilever rack with 1500mm post spacings is 4620mm long which allows for lengths of up to 6m to be stored with a little bit of overhang at each end. The number of arms on each post is dependent on the weight loading required, as the number of arms on the post increases, their weight capacity decreases due to total weight capacity limits of the post.
